Memphis Celebrates 207!
Last Friday, our city turned 207 years old. That’s 207 years of food, music, and culture. Memphis was founded on May 22, 1819, and was named after Memphis, Egypt. Our leaders celebrated Memphis’ birthday by hosting a free community event. Read more here.
Memphis Documentary Nominated for a Sports Emmy
Memphis is featured in a documentary streaming on Disney+ and Hulu that’s now been nominated for a Sports Emmy. This documentary is not a traditional Memphis documentary about our music. It’s about rock climbing. A young rock climbing team from a local nonprofit climbing gym, Memphis Rox, journeyed to Kenya to climb the second-highest peak on the continent. Memphis International Airport Announces Winners of the 19th Annual High School Visual Arts Competition
We’ve got so many young, talented people in this city. And for 19 years now, Memphis International Airport has been celebrating those artists with its Visual Arts Competition. Finalists and Winners came from a range of local schools, from Collierville High School to Whitehaven High School to Christian Brothers. View the winners here.
